A woman that had just moved in San Diego’s neighborhood of Paradise Hills was surprised to come home from work only to find the grass on her compound stolen.
Madonna Hanes had just moved into her new home and just like everyone else, making adjustments is always a necessity.
Hanes decided to buy a 650-pound 16-feet-long artificial turf grass. This type of grass is usually of high grade.
Artificial turf is widely used in the sports industry to provide well-manicured lawns for playing golf, soccer, football, and other outdoor sports.
If you happen to have deep pockets like Hanes, however, you can buy the turf and have it fitted by a professional to your yard.
For Hanes, hers was a case of bad luck as some bunch of thief noticed the grass that lay in the open yard, and made a way with it.
Not your ordinary grass
Luckily, the robbery that occurred in broad daylight was captured by a neighbor’s CCTV camera.
The footage was handed over to the Maine police and Hanes is hopeful that the thieves will be found.
At the moment, the thieves left a trail of the turf that only extended about a few meters around the block.
Apparently, this is not the first case. The Maine police pulled over a pickup a few months back that was suspected to be carrying a stolen garden shed.
For now, the CCTV footage shows the thieves stashing the expensive grass on a Nissan Altima.
Would you spend a fortune to manicure your compound’s lawn?
